The Effect of AI-Enhanced AAC Compared to Traditional AAC on Communicative Turns in Adults with IDD

Adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) who use augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) often experience barriers to reciprocal communication due to the cognitive demands and usability limitations of traditional AAC systems. This investigation examined the effects of aided language stimulation (ALS) paired with a traditional AAC application and an AI-enhanced AAC application on communicative turns in adults with IDD.
