Dysphagia is a frequent complication after stroke. In some cases, stroke leads to respiratory failure requiring mechanical ventilation, which can exacerbate swallowing impairments. This study investigated whether a laryngeal exercise protool – shown to augment swallowing in Parkinson’s disease while improving vocal intensity-might also benefit stroke patients with severe dysphagia following extubation. It was hypothesized that this protocol could be effectively adapted to support swallowing recovery in this population.
