This paper establishes and examines the hand and occupational therapist’s (HT/OT) role in pre- and post-natal (perinatal) care and proposes a health promotion program for this population. Using evidence-based research drawn from orthopedic and HT/OT literature, the author plans to demonstrate the importance of maintaining meaningful occupational engagement during this critical life stage.
