General anxiety disorder is the most common anxiety disorder, which affects multiple aspects of patients’ quality of life. Mental disorders are on the rise globally, nationally, and locally. Anxiety disorders had a high economic burden, but multiple studies have shown that proper treatment can greatly improve costs. Within the community, limited access to clinical mental health professionals necessitates adequate mental health treatment by their primary care providers. However, multiple studies report that primary care settings often had high misdiagnosis and inadequate treatment rates for anxiety. The United States Preventive Services Task Force recommends screening for anxiety for all adults aged 18-64.
