Burnout is more common among nurses than with other healthcare workers. Burnout is estimated to be fifty percent and higher globally due to the work environment and job requirements and expectations and is projected to go higher due to healthcare changes. In Virginia, it is estimated that each nurse experiences a particular type of burnout. More than fifty-nine percent of nurses in Virginia experience high burnout. The purpose of this study is to determine whether teaching nurses about self-care will decrease the rate of nurse burnout.
