As a national health and safety clinical guideline, the United States Preventative Services Task Force (USPSTF) recommends sexually transmitted infection (STI) screening for chlamydia and gonorrhea in all sexually active women under 24 years of age or younger and in any woman of the age of 25 or older who may be at increased risk for infection. A local Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in Utah County, Utah, currently faces a gap in clinical care through a lack of chlamydia trachomatis/gonorrhea testing on the clinic’s adolescent patients, ranging from ages 16-19 years old. An FQHC in Utah County must implement an appropriate risk assessment tool to identify and treat at-risk patients effectively.
