Lingual-palatal suction occurs when the tongue contacts the palate. Without adequate suction, intraoral seal can be impacted if a high arched palate develops and leads to increased space in the oral cavity. Lingual and sublingual tension or weakness can reduce lingual cupping and elevation. The aim of this study was to determine if the external sublingual lingual elevation using the GOMAP outer-oral technique will improve tip and mid-blade lingual elevation and lingual-palatal suction in infants with low lingual resting postures, absent or limited lingual-palatal suction, and improve feeding function.
