This capstone project outlines an occupational therapy pediatric program proposal for students diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders. Students in grades pre-kindergarten through second grade will participate in an interdisciplinary-led sensory-motor curriculum for use as a supplemental therapeutic enrichment program at the elementary school level. Occupational, physical, and speech therapists and special education classroom teachers will make up interdisciplinary teams to lead weekly activities. The central components of the program will include craft activities in conjunction with a curriculum-based story, incorporating aspects of all therapeutic disciplines. Students will engage in ten weeks of themed sensory-motor sessions targeting fine and gross motor, speech and language, and literacy activities utilizing a sensory processing foundation.
