By 2060, the United States of America minority population is expected to rise from 38 percent in 2014 to 56 percent. With much of the future population being from diverse backgrounds, it is crucial that occupational therapists respect and understand the impact culture has on providing successful treatment to clients. The development of a course that encompasses the topics of cultural competency and intervention provides occupational therapy students with the skills necessary to successfully work with diverse populations and advocate for inclusion of all individuals. The aim of this program proposal, is to utilize evidence to focus education of occupational therapy students on how culture relates to and affects implementation of occupational therapy in a developing country.
