Career Steps is an evidence-based occupational therapy business designed to provide work solutions for young adults with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Career steps address the significant employment barriers faced by young adults with ASD. Young adults with ASD possess skills and motivation to work; however, many individuals with ASD experience barriers in communication, emotional regulation, and social skills, and limited access to individualized vocational supports. This evidence-based capstone project, titled Career Steps, bridges the gap by providing evidence-based occupational therapy interventions focused on vocational readiness, independence, and long-term community participation. Employment readiness represents a key aspect of daily functional performance. In this area, occupational therapists are uniquely equipped to address this through evidence-based interventions that promote independence and sustained employment outcomes by. The purpose of this capstone project is to create an evidence-based occupational therapy (OT) focused outpatient clinic. This evidence-based occupational therapy business is resolute on addressing a critical service gap by providing evidence-based interventions for young adults aged 18 to 21 with ASD to enhance employment engagement and long-term vocational outcomes.
