Thousands of people are affected by mental health each year. To obtain earnest help for the disabled population, society needs to understand the physical, social, and financial impact it has on communities, and families. On the national, state, and local levels, mental health is grossly underfunded and lacks support. In Idaho, the overall mental health of the disabled adult population is significantly growing while being largely ignored. Depression cannot be stabilized without proper medication and counseling. The project sites, located in five cities across Idaho, serves the developmentally disabled adult population, however proper screening for counseling in this population is lacking. This project’s main objective was to evaluate the number of referrals achieved while using a PHQ-9 assessment in the adult disabled population.
