Tardive dyskinesia (TD) may be induced with the use of antipsychotic medications. On the national, state, and local levels, the population suffering from mental health continues to experience late detection and diagnosis of TD. In Texas, the physical, psychological, social, and professional effects of TD are associated with a decreased quality of life. A lack of education on TD screening and the abnormal involuntary movement scale (AIMS) used with patients taking antipsychotics is associated with Tardive dyskinesia’s (TD) potential irreversible side effects. The project site, located in Houston, Texas, serves many patients at risk for TD. At the project site, knowledge of the AIMS, TD’s impact, and use of the AIMS tool is lacking.
