After sustaining a lower extremity injury, basketball athletes are at an elevated risk of reinjury due to the large volumes of high-intensity changes of direction, jumps, and sprints required. Despite the growing rehabilitation literature, reinjury rates remain high. Force plate jump testing is gaining popularity due to its ability to detect persistent lower extremity asymmetries after injury. However, there is a lack of agreement on which jump task or metrics best identify persistent asymmetries in basketball athletes after injury. High school and collegiate male basketball athletes undergoing rehabilitation were examined to establish referenceable symmetry scores and to identify relevant jump tasks and metrics most sensitive to asymmetries based on lower extremity injury location.
