Suicide is a global problem with an estimated 703,000 people who take their own life each year. In 2019, suicide was the 4th leading cause of death worldwide, affecting every race and social class. In Utah, where this project was implemented, suicide is considered the 8th leading cause of death. Bringing awareness to the problem is necessary to provide help and hope to those struggling with mental health problems. The first objective was to educate participants about an evidence-based tool used to assess suicide severity risk. The second objective was to implement the tool in a ketamine clinic for patients with treatment-resistant depression with the goal of identifying those with suicidal ideation. The project then measured if the tool was actually used or not during the implementation period.
